Balance
Learn how to read what your hair needs between protein and moisture, and how to alternate our Pearl Protein and Hidratante formulas across wash days.
Every strand of hair needs both structural support and water to stay manageable. When clients ask us at the counter why their hair feels uncooperative, the cause is often a simple imbalance between protein and moisture. Our Pearl Protein formula uses pearl protein and keratin to help fortify weak, processed, or relaxed hair, while our plain Hidratante intensive hydrating treatment focuses on replenishing softness with silicones and ceramides.
A quick stretch test on clean, wet hair tells you where your balance stands. Take a single strand between your fingers and pull gently on both ends. Hair with sufficient moisture and structure stretches slightly and returns to its length without breaking. If it stretches out like old elastic and immediately snaps, it lacks structural protein. If it has no give at all and breaks under the slightest pull, it is starved of moisture.
Hair that has received too much protein feels noticeably stiff, rough, and straw like to the touch. It tangles easily, refuses to bend, and tends to snap when you comb through it. When this happens, adding more protein will only make the texture coarser. The hair needs a break from fortifying formulas and requires moisture treatments to soften the cuticle and bring back flexibility.
Dry hair that needs hydration feels dull, brittle, and unyielding, even when it has plenty of internal strength. For this state, our Hidratante formula provides deep conditioning to clean, damp strands after you shampoo. Leaving the hair softer and easier to comb prepares it for a leave-in styler during blow-drying or air-drying, without building up excess protein on the fiber.
Rather than layering both types in one session, we recommend alternating them across separate wash days. Use our Pearl Protein mask on one wash day to reinforce weak areas, and switch to the Hidratante treatment on your next wash day to restore slip and suppleness. This simple rotation keeps dry, natural, or colored hair balanced over time without overloading the cuticle with a single type of care.
